Set photos from Las Vegas
12 Jan 2012

By Tommy Pihl (JCO Editor-In-Chief)

The first set photos from Las Vegas from Jim Carrey's upcoming comedy "Burt Wonderstone" can be seen on some websites. They began shooting Tuesday this week and will shoot the rest of the week in Las Vegas before the shoot moves to Los Angeles next week.

The movie is about two rival magicians Jim Carrey (Steve Haines) and Steve Carell (Burt Wonderstone). The first set photos are from Steve Carell's team of a banner for Steve Carell and Steve Buscemi's act of "Burt Wonderstone and Anton Lovecraft" and an advertisement for the Hot Box illusion. Jim Carrey is set to begin tomorrow.

The cast in Las Vegas paid a visit to real-life magician David Copperfields Vegas Show the other day. Copperfield tweeted a photo of him with Steve Carell (Burt Wonderstone), Steve Buscemi (Anton Lovecraft, Burt's assistance), Olivia Wilde (Jane, Burt's assistance) and James Gandolfini (Doug Munny, Burt and Anton's boss).

Jim Carrey will play Steve Haines, their increasingly popular rival and a "street magician" (in the vein of Criss Angel) who performs elaborate, impossible stunts. For example, his show "Steve Haines: Brain Rapist" features him being punched in the face, then producing the man's card from a cut in his bruised cheek. Burt and Anton's "hotbox" idea is in response to audience attention shifting to Haines' oddities.
