"The Majestic" set reports - April 19, 20 and 21

Another interesting and busy production time went by last week in Ferndale. Lora Jabot fought her way through the tight security to deliver some top quality information and photos right from the front row.
April 19: "Jim was not in costume during the afternoon, he was watching the filming at the camera in his jeans and down jacket. The scene was taking place of the town's people discussing the identity of Pete Vs Luke. I did run into a few 'Cool guy's on the bench.' Lookin' good in their dud's!"

"The evening shoot was superior! Even though I'm on the set almost every day, nothing beats the view I had Thursday night! I had the opportunity to watch the shoot and see every thing facing the action. The great thing about that view was, seeing Jim, Laurie, Martin and the rest of the actors and extras from the front, about 20 feet away. (I'm used to seeing every thing from the back or side of the actors.) They were filming the lighting of the Majestic! Very few lines, but great expressions and emotions from the actors. The light switch was pulled, the actors raised their hands and howled with excitement as to the beautiful sight of lights that brought the theater back to life! They did the scene over and over, shooting from every angle, and the ending shot was the kiss between Jim and Laurie." This scene obviously was a nice one to watch, as Lora describes it as a sweet and very tender moment.
Off-camera, Jim seems to be his very self again, as "he was being kooky and sassy between shots, typical Jim."

Another scene was shot Friday night. "I called Ellie [Green] to get the update on the shoot. They were still shooting in front of her shop, but at a different angle. The director's tent was in the window view of Ellie's shop, so she couldn't see anything, she did report that the scene was the conversations in the theater lobby. Ellie called it a night around 1:30 am again."

Jack Mays' fantastic drawing went to the owners of the Village Inn for a high bid of $5.500, staying in Ferndale. "After the auction, James Whitmore stayed and signed autographs."
Last but no way least, Jim later payed a visit to the Village Inn to also autograph the drawing.
