Has Jim Been "Bewitched"?
28 Apr 2003

You know that cute little rumor that was spread in the tabloids that Jim Carrey and Nicole Kidman were having a hot little romance JUST because they were spotted having dinner together at a nice restauarant? DON'T BELIEVE IT. Here's the REAL story...

Carrey and Kidman were having dinner together WITH ANOTHER PERSON: the writer (Nora Ephron) of the upcoming film adaptation of the classic 1960s TV sitcom "Bewitched." Kidman wants to play the role of "Samantha," the nose-twitching witch who is married to "Darrin," the mortal husband that Carrey wants to play. The dinner was business negotiations for the "Bewitched" film. The film is set to start shooting in 2004.

Now, if Jim does do this film, he's got a heck-of-a-lot of shooting on his plate already. He just finished "Eternal Sunshine," next up is "Lemony Snicket" (role = Count Olaf). In development is "Walter Mitty" (role = Walter Mitty), which is also supposed to start shooting in 2004, when Speilberg's and Carrey's schedules can gel; and that Howards Hughes biopic film (role = Howard Huges) which is currently in development (possibly even pre-production) is also supposed to start shooting in 2004. In 2005 we've got Jim voicing the lead raccoon in a cartoon film adaptation of the comic strip "Over the Hedge." Finally, Carrey's own production company, "Pitbull Productions," is still in the mix with Jim spearheading a book-to-film docudrama called "Children of the Dustbowl."

As you can see, JCO has been following all of these films with interest. IF "Mitty" does indeed go into production in 2004, as does the Howard Hughes biopic, then something has to give. Could Jim do three films in one year? Probably not. But, he knows his upcoming film project schedule a WHOLE lot better than we do.

So, there you have it. JCO will keep you posted...
