I just watched this interview, and have to say I was deeply moved by Jim's expressions regarding depression and medication.
I'll share with you, since Jim shared with all of us, and maybe you too can relate.
I live with chronic depression, and have been involved in using medications for ten years. Recently, I quit using meds (under doctor and therapist supervision) and am looking in on other methods of relief. Since discontinuing the regimen almost all of my symptoms went away, and I have been experiencing emotion I have not felt in years. I feel stable, even though it is a challenge. Most importantly, I feel motivated.
Jim said that medication is valuable, and ssri's have their place in short term care. I agree and identify with this statement. I'm so pleased that Jim trusts the world enough to share his experience. It was my therapist who recommended I watch the interview, since it so parallels the same struggles and thoughts that are current in my life.
I don't know if Jim reads any of this, but thank you Jim. You said it just right.
